Rachel Buechler: Head of School/Toddler Teacher
Rachel Buechler has been working in education since 2009 when she achieved her BA in Education. She fell in love with Montessori upon learning about the method and received her Infant/Toddler Montessori certification in 2011 while teaching in a Montessori toddler classroom. She switched to an administration position as Assistant Director of a Montessori school in 2014, working alongside Michelle Cochran who was the Director.
Rachel also achieved her EDU119, Admin 261, Admin 262 and took a course about Building a World Class Montessori school during these years. She finished her Masters of Montessori Leadership in October 2019 and completed the RIE Foundations course in 2020. She is currently working on her 3-6 Montessori Certification. It has been her dream to serve children with an authentic Montessori program that operates with excellence, while providing strong support to those families simultaneously. She believes a school should be a safe, loving and welcoming community with parents, teachers and children all working peacefully together.
Michelle Cochran: Head of School/Early Childhood Teacher
Michelle Cochran has a Bachelors degree in Child and Family Studies with an Associates in Early Childhood Education. In 2021 she received her Masters of Montessori Education and Early Childhood Montessori Certificate from Lander University. She began in Early Childhood Education over twenty years ago and has taught at the Preschool and Elementary levels throughout her career. She was first introduced to the Montessori philosophy by a chance meeting with Rachel. They operated a Montessori School together prior to opening Queen City Montessori School.
She has continued her studies through attending Montessori Conferences. She became a certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator in December 2018. Michelle values the way Montessori education embraces childhood development and supports families in raising peaceful, independent children. She is passionate about supporting families to develop respectful relationships and she looks forward to embracing all there is to learn from her adventure at Queen City Montessori.
